run_connector_installation_action

Have a project's installation of a connector do one of the things it offers, on its platform, with the creator's answers checked first.

Runs one action list_connector_installation_actions listed: action is its key and fields an object keyed by the names the action declares, each answer checked against the field's rules before the connector acts. The answer says what happened in the creator's words: done true with a message and whatever the connector reports in details, or done false with the reason and, when the platform refused, the classified failure. The REST twin is POST /v1/projects/{project}/connectors/{key}/installation/actions/{actionKey}.

This changes the platform itself: it may create channels, roles or categories in the creator's server. When the action lists a "confirm" question, put it to the creator and run only on their yes.

Requires ability

The token behind the MCP session must hold it, or the call is refused with TOKEN_MISSING_ABILITY.

The REST endpoint and this tool share one action, so validation, permissions and events are identical.

Annotations

Destructive

A client that honours annotations asks a person before running it.

Arguments

project_id*string

UUID of the project.

connector*string

The connector key, as `list_connectors` returns it.

action*string

The action key, as `list_connector_installation_actions` lists it.

fieldsobjectoptional

The creator's answers, keyed by the field names the action declares; omit for an action that asks nothing.

What it returns

{  "data": {    "action": "setup_members_area",    "done": true,    "message": "The members area is ready: a Members category with #members, #announcements and a voice channel, behind the Members role.",    "details": {      "category_id": "1183455190821797800",      "role_id": "1183455190821797899",      "channel_ids": ["1183455190821797801", "1183455190821797802", "1183455190821797803"]    },    "failure": null  },  "meta": {}}

How it fails

RESOURCE_NOT_FOUND

the installation offers no action by that key, or project_id is not a project the token can see.

VALIDATION_FAILED

an answer names no field the action asks for, or fails its rule; the context names the field.

CONNECTOR_NOT_INSTALLED

the project has no installation of the connector.

CONNECTOR_NOT_CONNECTED

the installation cannot act right now.

AUTHENTICATION_REQUIRED

no authenticated user on the request.

TOKEN_MISSING_ABILITY

token lacks project-connector:update.
