Follow-up Messages
Why a creator's project may message you after you looked without buying, left a checkout open, or started a trial without a card; where the messages arrive, what each one carries, and the Stop that ends them.
A creator's project can send you a short series of follow-up messages around four moments. Each message is written by the creator, arrives where you already talk to the project, and carries a way to stop the series.
When you might hear from a project
| Moment | What the messages are about |
|---|---|
| You looked without buying | You messaged the project's bot, signed in to its portal or followed one of its links, and did not buy. |
| You left a checkout open | You were handed the way to pay and no payment settled within the window the creator set (an hour by default, up to a day). |
| Your trial is about to end | You hold a trial without a card, or one started with an access code, and it ends in the next few days. |
| Your membership ended | Your last membership with the project ended and the creator runs a win-back series. |
A message series ends the moment you pay: a purchase, a trial you start, or a renewal that settles closes every open series at once, so you never hear from one after joining.
Nothing moves money
A follow-up message never charges you. It carries the way to the plan; paying is still your tap on the creator's checkout, on the bot or the portal, with the usual confirmation.
Where the messages arrive
- In the chat where you talk to the project, on the account you used with it, when that account can be reached.
- By email, only about a checkout you started or a trial about to end, when no chat account can be reached or you asked the project for email copies; and never about a first look alone, unless you asked for email copies.
What a message carries
- The creator's words, with your name and the project filled in.
- The way to the plan. On the bot, the button opens the project's bot on the plan the message is about, with the message's coupon already applied, so the payment screen shows the discount. Elsewhere, the button opens the portal's checkout with the plan and the coupon ready.
- A coupon, when the creator attached one, which works under the coupon's own rules.
- Stop: a button under the message in the bot, a link in the footer of an email.
Stopping the messages
Press Stop on any message. On the bot the series end at once and the bot says so; from an email the link opens a one-tap page that needs no sign-in. Either way you leave every open series with the project and enter none until:
- a payment settles for you with the project, which switches the follow-ups back on, or
- you switch Follow-up messages back on yourself.
The switch lives in your portal account settings, under Follow-up messages, where you can also turn the series off without waiting for a message. See The subscriber portal.
What the project keeps
A checkout you start is recorded with the plan, the payment method, where you started it and when it started, stalled and completed; the creator sees it on their Revenue Recovery page. Whether you pressed Stop, and the follow-up messages you were sent, are kept with your membership record. The creator never sees your card or wallet details through any of this.
