Email & Notifications

Control which emails Subscriby sends you — communications, marketing, promotional, advertising, and weekly performance digests.

By the end of this page, you'll know exactly which emails Subscriby sends, how each toggle affects your inbox, and how to keep critical notifications flowing while opting out of the rest.

Email preferences live at Settings → Notifications (URL: /settings/notifications).

The Notifications Center

Every alert Subscriby sends you also lands in your Notifications Center, whatever else it does (an email, a message on a connected account). The Notifications Center entry in the sidebar, above Plans & Billing, carries the number you have not opened and pops out the newest eight; click one to go where it points (the support inbox of the project, the Disaster Recovery page, your security settings), or Mark All as Read to clear the count. The number moves the moment an alert arrives, without reloading.

Open Notifications Center (URL: /notifications) is the full page: how many are unread, how many there are, when the last one arrived, and every alert grouped by day, newest first. Narrow it with the All / Unread / Read tabs, a class filter (Sales, Support, Recovery, Billing, Security, Passes, Onboarding) or a search over titles and bodies. Open marks an entry read and takes you there; Mark as Read marks it read and stays; Notification Settings jumps to the page this guide is about.

The same inbox is readable by integrations at GET /v1/me/notifications and by an agent through list_notifications; GET /v1/me carries the unread count.

What each toggle controls

There are five independent switches. Each can be turned on or off without affecting the others — with one exception, covered in Automatic opt-outs below.

ToggleWhat it controlsOur recommendation
Communication EmailsProduct announcements, security advisories, policy changesKeep on — some of these contain important account notices
Marketing EmailsNew feature announcements, product launches, onboarding nudgesPersonal preference
Promotional EmailsDiscount offers, limited-time promotionsTurn off if you'd rather not receive offers
Advertisement EmailsPartner offers, cross-promotion with third-party servicesTurn off for the lightest inbox footprint
Weekly EmailsA weekly digest summarising the performance of your projects (only sent if there's meaningful activity)Keep on — it's often the only place you'll see trends at a glance

Change your preferences

Go to Settings → Notifications.

Flip any switch. The row's label explains what that category contains — hover for the full tooltip text.

Click Save Changes at the bottom.

A toast confirms the save. The changes take effect for any email dispatched from this moment onward.

Already in your inbox? Emails that were queued before you saved your preferences may still arrive — they were prepared under the old setting. New emails after the save respect your new choices.

Where alerts go

Above the email toggles, Alert destinations is a grid of alert classes against the places an alert can reach you: one column per account linked under Settings → Security → Linked accounts (one for each connected platform) and one for your email address.

ClassWhat it covers
SalesNew subscribers, sale notices, a subscriber who received no access
SupportMembers waiting for a reply in a project's inbox
RecoveryA bot or a channel the platform can no longer reach, failovers, account relinks
BillingYour own Subscriby subscription: trial ending, a locked account, a failed payment
SecurityAn account linked or unlinked, a passkey used to sign in
PassesPass windows opening, roll calls, a series finishing
OnboardingNudges while you set up

Tick a cell to have that class of alert delivered there; untick it to stop. Ticking an account makes its bot message you; ticking Email sends the email. Recovery, billing and security are always sent by email — those cells are locked on — because they arrive precisely when the bot you would otherwise read them on may have stopped working. Routing them to an account adds a message there; it never removes the email.

Until you change the grid you are on the default: every class reaches your primary connected account, and the critical classes reach your email too, so nothing changes for you until you say so. When you link a new account it receives every class, so linking behaves exactly as before; unlinking it removes its column. Unticking every cell of an account keeps the account in the grid and sends it nothing. The same grid is available over the API at /v1/me/alert-destinations.

Subscriby's bot on each platform carries the same switch for the account you are writing from: Alerts Here: On or Off on its home menu turns every class on or off for that account with one tap, and the grid here shows the change at once. Recovery, billing and security alerts still reach your email whatever the switch says.

Emails you can't opt out of

Some emails go out regardless of your preferences because they're transactional, legally required, or essential for account security.

Billing and transactional

Receipts and invoices for your Subscriby subscription, and for payments collected through your projects.

Security and sign-in

Password resets, email-verification links, two-factor codes during recovery, and alerts when a new sign-in appears from an unfamiliar device. Also includes account-recovery notifications.

Team invitations

Invitations to join a team, and the confirmation emails when an invite is accepted — critical for collaboration workflows.

Legally mandated notices

Terms of Service updates, privacy policy changes, and (we hope never) data-breach notifications. These are required by regulators in some jurisdictions.

We deliberately can't disable the list above. These emails exist to protect you, and silencing them would put your account at risk.

Automatic opt-outs

Two things switch marketing categories off without you touching this page.

Unsubscribing from an email. The "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of a marketing, promotional, advertising or weekly email switches off the matching toggle here. One link affects one category, not all of them.

A bounce or spam complaint. If an email to your address permanently bounces, or you mark a Subscriby email as spam, Marketing, Promotional, Advertisement and Weekly are all switched off together. This protects our sending reputation for everyone else.

A temporary delivery problem — a full mailbox, or a mail server that is briefly down — does not change your preferences. Only a permanent failure does.

Communication Emails is never switched off automatically, and no unsubscribe link can disable it. Account notices and security advisories are treated as transactional, so they keep arriving even after a complaint.

You can turn any of these back on at any time from this page.

The weekly digest in detail

If Weekly Emails is on, Subscriby sends you a weekly summary of how your projects are doing — new subscribers, revenue trends, and notable activity.

The digest is only dispatched when there are meaningful trends or sales across your projects; quiet weeks are skipped so you're not sent an empty email just for the sake of it. The toggle's own description says it best:

"Receive emails on weekly basis regarding the performance of your projects. These emails will only be dispatched if there are any notable trends or sales on your projects."

Subscriber-facing emails

Emails you send to your subscribers (receipts, welcome emails, email broadcasts) are controlled separately from this page:

  • Automatic subscriber emails (receipts, renewal reminders) follow their project's own settings.
  • Your one-off broadcasts come from Email broadcasts.

Frequently asked

  • Profile — change the email address receiving these notifications.
  • Account recovery — add additional addresses for recovery use.
  • Email broadcasts — on the creator side, control what you send to subscribers.
