Social Logins
Sign in or sign up with Google, Facebook, Apple or Microsoft, link and unlink providers under Settings → Social Logins, and what an account without a password means.
A Subscriby creator account can sign in with the account you already hold on Google, Facebook, Apple or Microsoft. One rule governs all of it: only a provider linked to your account can sign you in. Linking happens under Settings → Social Logins, or on the day you sign up through a provider.
The buttons on the sign-in page are the providers Subscriby offers today. Members of your projects sign in to the portal with their platform account, Google or a magic link — see For Subscribers → Portal. This page is about creator accounts.
Signing in
At /login, press the provider's button in the row at the top of the card. With three or more providers on offer the row shows their marks alone; hover a mark to see its name.
The provider's own consent screen opens. Pick the account you linked and confirm.
You land on your dashboard. If two-factor
authentication is on, you are asked for your code
at /two-factor first, exactly as after a password.
When the provider is not linked yet
Signing in works only through a provider that is linked to your account. Two things can happen when it is not:
- The address the provider reports belongs to an existing Subscriby account. The sign-in is refused with a message on the sign-in page: sign in with your password or passkey, then link the provider under Settings → Social Logins; the next sign-in with it goes through. We also email the account holder about the attempt, at most once an hour, so a sign-in they did not make is noticed.
- No account holds that address. You are taken to the sign-up page with the provider vouching for you — see Signing up with a provider.
A matching email address alone never signs you in. A provider vouching for an address proves you control it today, which is not proof that you are the creator who registered with it. That is why linking is something you do from inside your account.
Signing up with a provider
At /register (or /login), press the provider's button.
Confirm on the provider's consent screen.
The sign-up form opens with your name and email address filled in. The address is read-only when the provider vouched for it; Facebook may hand over none, in which case you type one. There are no password fields.
Tick the agreement box, choose whether you want product news, add a partner code if you have one, and press Create My Subscriby Account.
You are signed in at once. An address the provider vouched for starts verified; an address you typed yourself gets the usual verification email first.
An account created this way has no password. See Accounts without a password for what that means.
Linking and unlinking
Open Settings → Social Logins. Every provider on offer has a row: linked, with the address or name the provider reported, when it was linked and when it last signed you in, or Not linked.
Press Link Google (or any other provider), confirm on the provider's screen, and you are back on the page with the provider linked. The address on the provider need not match your Subscriby address: being signed in and completing the consent proves both sides.
Press Unlink next to a provider and confirm to remove it. From then on that provider no longer signs you in until you link it again.
A provider identity links to one Subscriby account at a time. If the provider's account is already linked to another Subscriby account, the link is refused; unlink it there first. Every link and unlink is confirmed by email, so a change you did not make is noticed while it can still be undone.
Unlink is refused while the provider is your last way in: an account with no password, no passkey, no other social login and no connected platform account would otherwise lock itself out with one click. Set a password or link another way in first; the page says so next to the button.
Accounts without a password
An account that signed up through a provider, or that never set a password, signs in through the providers linked under Social Logins or a passkey. Everything else works the same, with two differences:
- The four actions that normally ask you to retype your password — changing it, signing out other browsers, deleting a passkey and deleting the account — ask you to confirm through a provider you hold instead. Press Confirm with Google (or any linked provider), confirm on its screen, and the action is open to you for a while, the way a retyped password is.
- Typing a password on the sign-in page simply fails, as a wrong password does. To add a password, open Settings → Security, where the password card reads Set a Password; or use Forgot your password? on the sign-in page, which sets one through the emailed link.
A password is a way in that depends on no provider. If a provider ever refuses you, a password or a passkey gets you back in without waiting on anyone.
