Polar
Connect Polar with one organization access token. Polar collects the payment, handles sales tax and VAT, pays you out in 120+ countries and renews plans on its side.
Polar is a merchant of record: the buyer pays Polar, Polar handles sales tax and VAT in every country it sells into, and pays you out through its own Stripe Connect rail in more than 120 countries — including many where a creator cannot open a Stripe account. Your plans become Polar products, renewals run on Polar's side, and the only thing you paste is one organization access token.

What you'll need
- A Polar organization with its payout onboarding completed.
- An organization access token created under Settings → Developers, with these scopes:
products:read, products:write, checkouts:write, orders:read, subscriptions:read, subscriptions:write, refunds:read, refunds:write, discounts:write, webhooks:writeandcustomers:read. - For a dry run, the same token created at sandbox.polar.sh instead. A sandbox token works only against the sandbox and a production token only against production.
Setup
Create the access token
- Sign in to your Polar dashboard and open your organization.
- Go to Settings → Developers and create a new organization access token.
- Grant the scopes listed above, copy the token and keep it secure. Polar shows it once.
Add Polar in Subscriby
- Go to Payment Methods → Setup a Payment Method.
- Pick Polar.
- Select Live or Test — the mode must match where the token was created.
Enter credentials
- Polar organization access token — paste the token.
- Polar webhook secret — leave it empty. Subscriby registers the webhook endpoint for you; fill it only when you registered the endpoint by hand and Subscriby asked you to.
Activate and save
Toggle Active, click Save Changes.
Sync your plans
Choose Sync Subscription Plans from the method's menu. Each active plan becomes a Polar product with one fixed price: a recurring plan a product that renews on the plan's cycle, a lifetime plan a one-time product. Every later change to a plan on sale is pushed on its own; a plan taken off sale is archived on Polar's side, and a plan whose cycle changed gets a new product, because Polar never changes a product's interval.
The first sync also registers the webhook endpoint on your organization and stores its secret in the method.
If Polar refuses the webhook registration, the method is switched off and the project owner is emailed what to do. Polar shows an endpoint's secret once, so an endpoint Subscriby did not create can only be adopted when you paste its secret into the Polar webhook secret field first.
Supported currencies
Polar presents prices in 36 currencies: AED, ARS, AUD, BRL, CAD, CHF, CLP, CNY, COP, CZK, DKK, EUR, GBP, HKD, HUF, IDR, ILS, INR, JPY, KRW, MXN, MYR, NOK, NZD, PEN, PHP, PLN, RON, SAR, SEK, SGD, THB, TRY, TWD, USD and ZAR.
Price the plan in one of them and attach Polar; Polar presents the price to the buyer and pays you out in your payout currency. Every currency carries a minimum charge on Polar's side (0.50 USD, for example), so a plan priced below it is refused at checkout.
The subscriber experience
Pick the provider
Subscriber picks Polar at checkout on either the bot or the web portal.
Land on Polar's checkout
Redirected to Polar's hosted checkout, which offers cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and the local methods Polar supports in the buyer's country.
Pay and return
Completes the payment and returns to Subscriby. Polar issues the receipt as the seller; Subscriby activates the membership the moment Polar's webhook confirms the paid order.
For recurring plans, Polar charges every cycle and retries a failed renewal on its own schedule. Subscriby mirrors what Polar reports: an active subscription keeps its period end from Polar, a past-due one opens the member's grace period, a cancellation keeps access to the end of the paid period, and a revoked subscription ends access at once.
Coupons
Coupon codes work on one-time and recurring plans. A code applied at checkout becomes a once-only Polar discount for that purchase, so a recurring plan is discounted on its first charge and renews at the plan's full price. Polar's own discount-code box stays closed on the checkout, because a code typed there would bypass the coupon's limits.
Refunds
Issue refunds in your Polar dashboard. Polar's refund webhook marks the payment refunded in Subscriby; a full refund ends the membership and emits subscription.refunded, a partial one leaves access alone and emits payment.refunded.
