Sign in with Discord
How Continue with Discord works, what Discord shares, how to link or unlink an account, and why email and passkeys stay available.
A Subscriby creator account is email-first, and a Discord account can be linked to it in three ways: start from Continue with Discord on the sign-up page and the link is there from day one, link it later from Settings › Security › Linked accounts, or add the app to a server and the account you authorised from is linked when you held none. Once linked, you can always sign in with Continue with Discord as an alternative to your password or passkey.
This page covers how that Discord sign-in path behaves, what data is shared, and what to do if something goes wrong. The connector-neutral picture, and how the same card links accounts on other connectors, is on Signing in with a connected platform.
Creator accounts only sign in through connectors. Google sign-in, magic-link sign-in, and similar paths are used on the member portal (your members' login page), not on the creator dashboard. See For Members → Portal if you're reading this as a member.
What Discord sign-in does
When you click Continue with Discord at /login:
- You authenticate with Discord, not with Subscriby, on Discord's own authorisation page.
- Discord shares your public profile: username, display name, avatar and your unique Discord user ID. That is the
identifyscope and nothing more. - We match that user ID to your existing creator account and sign you in.
- You stay signed in to Subscriby even if you later sign out of Discord: the connection is only used at the moment of sign-in.
How to sign in with Discord
At /login, open Log in with a connected platform above the email/password form and click Continue with Discord.
Discord's authorisation page opens. The first time it asks you to authorise Subscriby to read your profile; after that it sends you straight back. On a phone, Discord may open its app instead of the browser.
Discord redirects you back to Subscriby. Because your Discord user ID is already linked to your account, you're signed in immediately.
If 2FA is enabled on your account, you'll still be prompted for your authenticator code at /two-factor.
A Discord account that no creator account knows is sent to the registration page with the form pre-filled, since there is nothing to sign in to yet. Denying the authorisation on Discord's page changes nothing: the tab reads Discord did not sign you in. Nothing was changed. with a button back to the sign-in page.
Why this is useful
No password to remember
If you forget your password or don't want to enter one on a shared device, Continue with Discord is an instant alternative.
Tied to the Discord user ID, not the username
If you change your Discord username or display name later, your Subscriby link is unaffected. We match on the underlying numeric user ID, which Discord never changes.
One account, three paths
Signing in with Discord, email/password, or a passkey all land you on the same dashboard with the same data. Mix and match as convenient.
What data Discord shares
Only the basics: username, display name, avatar and a unique Discord user ID. Subscriby doesn't see your messages, your friends, the servers you are in, or anything else in your Discord account. Adding the app to a server is a separate authorisation with its own list of permissions, all of them about the server.
Linking a Discord account later
If you signed up with an email address, or unlinked Discord at some point, you can link it from your dashboard:
Open Settings › Security and find the Linked accounts card. It lists every account already linked and offers a Link Discord button while none is.
Press Link Discord. Discord's authorisation page opens in a new tab; sign in there as the Discord account you want linked and authorise.
The tab confirms the link and says you can close it; the card refreshes on its own. From now on Continue with Discord signs you in, /subscriby-admin recognises you in your servers, and the app can reach you with alerts.
There is no code to type and no bot to message: Discord has no private chat a code could be sent to, so the link is the authorisation itself. The link works for fifteen minutes from the moment you press the button.
A Discord account can be linked to one Subscriby account at a time. If the tab answers that the account already belongs to someone else here, unlink it there first, or use a different Discord account.
Unlinking Discord
Press Unlink next to the account in Settings › Security › Linked accounts and confirm. You keep your password and any passkeys, so nothing locks you out; what you lose until you link again is the Discord side: Continue with Discord no longer signs you in, alerts no longer reach you on Discord, and /subscriby-admin answers that the account is not linked. A backup Discord account registered for Disaster Recovery is removed from the Disaster Recovery page, not from here.
If you have changed Discord accounts entirely, use the relink flow in Disaster Recovery instead of unlinking and linking: it moves your alerts and your recognition in every server over in one step and keeps an undo link. See Recovering your Discord account.
