Create a Paid Server
Turn a Discord server into a subscription: add the verified Subscriby app, sell membership of the server, connect your payment methods, create a plan and make a test purchase before you announce.
By the end of this page, a Discord server is a product: members pay on your portal, are added to the server by the app, renew on their own and are removed when they stop paying. Nothing here needs code, and it fits into an hour.
What you need
- A Discord server where you hold Manage Server. If it does not exist yet, create it; keep it invite-only, so the app is the one door in.
- A Subscriby project on Free, Starter or Growth (activate a plan, then create a project).
- One way to get paid: a Stripe account for cards, PayPal, Razorpay for India, Paystack for Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and South Africa, CoinPayments for crypto (choosing a provider). Discord has no in-app payment, so one gateway is where every server starts.
Add the app to the server
There is no bot to create. Subscriby is one verified app you add to your server from the dashboard.
Install Discord on the project
On the project's Connectors page, press Browse Marketplace, open the Discord card and press Connect to a project. Discord appears in the project's list as Pending.
Connect it
On the Discord row, choose Connect, press Connect in the dialog and then Continue on Discord. Discord's page opens: pick the server, review what the app asks for and press Authorise. You come back with the row reading Connected. The full walkthrough, with every permission explained, is Connect Your Discord Server.
Drag the Subscriby role up
In Server Settings → Roles, drag the Subscriby role above every role you will sell. Discord lets an app manage only the roles below its own.
Sell the server
Put the server on sale
Open Project Resources, link a place and pick the server itself from the list; or run /subscriby-admin gate server in the server. The resource is called Server and the portal shows it as such.
Decide what happens when access ends
On the Connectors page, open the Discord row's actions and choose When server access ends: keep the member in the server and remove the roles their plan gave (the default), or remove the member from the server. For a server you sell as a whole, choose Remove the member from the server; a member who still pays for a role or a channel on it is never removed by a server plan ending.
Connect the ways your audience pays
Under Payment Methods, switch on whatever fits your audience. Members see every active method at checkout and pick their own.
- Stripe covers cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay in most of the world, connected through Stripe's own onboarding (Stripe).
- PayPal and Skrill suit members who would rather not type a card number (PayPal, Skrill).
- Razorpay gives Indian members UPI, local cards and net banking; Paystack does the same for cards and bank rails in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and South Africa; CeyPay covers Sri Lanka (Razorpay, Paystack, CeyPay).
- CoinPayments takes Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and stablecoins, for one-time purchases (CoinPayments).
- Access codes are not a gateway but cover bank transfers, cash at an event and gifts (access codes).
Add a card gateway in Test or Sandbox mode first and switch it to
Live after your test purchase below (payment
methods). From the server, /subscriby-admin payments
does the same.
Create the plan
Under Subscription Plans, create the first plan: a name members see, a price, a billing cycle (days, weeks, months, years or lifetime), an optional trial with or without a card up front, and the server it unlocks (subscription plans). A monthly plan with a discounted annual plan beside it is where most servers start. If you sell a scheduled session rather than open-ended membership, a time-limited pass adds members when the window opens and removes them when it closes, and the window shows on the server's event calendar.
Share the portal link
The portal page lists your plans for anyone who arrives from a browser; a plan's own link opens its checkout; a Smart Link credits the place you shared it in. Put the link in your free channels' pinned messages and in your bios elsewhere (share your project). A visitor who opens it signs in with Continue with Discord, pays on the method they choose, and is added to the server by the app the moment the payment clears.
Test the whole flow
Subscribe to your own server with the gateway in Test mode (Stripe's test card is 4242 4242 4242 4242 with any future expiry and any CVC), signed in to the portal with a second Discord account. Check that you are added to the server within seconds of paying, that you appear under Members with the right plan and renewal date, and that /subscriby status in the server names the membership. Then cancel from the portal and confirm the seat goes when the period ends (or at once, with the subscription ended from the Members page). If a step fails, the cause is almost always the app's role sitting below a role, or a resource not linked to the plan. Then switch the gateway to Live and run the go-live checklist.
What runs on its own
Renewals are charged on the cycle, members hear from the app at 7, 3, 2 and 1 days before an expiry, and anyone whose subscription ends is removed automatically (how the app admits and removes members). A visitor who joins the server without a membership is sent the plans once. Questions members send land in your support inbox. If Discord ever takes a place or your account, the Disaster Recovery Program notices, alerts you and moves your members to a replacement.

Why Discord
One verified app instead of a bot you host, roles granted the minute a member pays, every payment method settling in your own accounts, and the creator toolkit as slash commands.
Sell a Role or a Channel
Set up a paid area inside an open Discord server: a role or a private channel the app grants and takes back, the members area in one click, plans, trials and the mistakes that leak access.
